Hike canyons, visit ruins and do some easy canyoneering. And play in the sand.
One of the best young family adventures there is. Epic. Fun. Memorable.
The kids in these photos are in their 20s now and they remember the trips to Lake Powell as some of the best. The scary swims through West Canyon. The ruins, petroglyphs and arch in Explorer’s canyon. Even the dead sheep we found in Mountain Sheep canyon. The key to these memories is getting off the boat and exploring!
Which also means when you rent a houseboat you need to rent another boat or jet ski / wave-runner or kayaks or something to get you from the houseboat to shore. One year we rented a ski boat, one year one of the families towed a ski boat out from California and another year we rented two Wave Runners.
Of course it isn’t all about exploring, which also makes it a great adventure. Playing in the sand and getting pulled behind a ski boat is also a lot of fun.
I don’t need a lot of text on this one. The photos speak for themselves:
